Old Pueblo Cellars

About us

Our Story
In 1974, we purchased property in Mariposa County, California, called the Mockingbird Ranch. On this land stood an old vineyard planted by Italian immigrants many decades prior and even though it was unkept for years, we decided to harvest the fruit and try our hand at winemaking. That was the spark that inspired us to make winemaking a part of our life. Even though we moved east, we longed to try our hand again at this craft and found an unexpected home in Southern Arizona.

Vineyard
After purchasing an 8-acre parcel of land in northern Tucson, we saw the potential for a vineyard in the heart of the Sonoran Desert. Starting with heat loving varietals, we planted Viognier, Petite Sirah, Malbec, Sangiovese, and Tempranillo in our boutique vineyard. Despite the heat and monsoon activity, the vines flourished and starting producing fruit. However, due to the small size, we needed to source fruit from other areas.
